day 13
~ day 13 ~
Today I am thankful for sunlight (does that sound hippie-ish?) I am super thankful for it! I know I talked about photography yesterday, but I had to again today 🙂 In the last eight years of doing sessions, I feel like my style has changed A LOT! I used to do almost all studio work (you know, the one color backdrops and super posed pictures where it looks like you’re playing Tetris with your family members!) My style started evolving as I figured out who I was as an artist (and I feel like there’s lots more to learn!)
But one thing that held me back for a while was lighting. I know you’re probably thinking, “but don’t you need the light to take pictures?” And the answer to that is YES! But the sun can also be intimidating! What time of day do you shoot? Direct sunlight or indirect? What about shadows? And cloudy days? Seriously, it can be scary! For a while I only shot in shadows or indirect light. But in the last year or so, I’ve learned a lot about sunlight – like that it’s my friend, not my enemy!
If I’m boring you with photography talk, sorry :/ Let’s just say that I am thankful for the sun and the beautiful light that it creates for images! And with that, I wanted to share one more sneak peek with you (perhaps my last for a very long time 🙁 I’ve photographed this family for several years and they are the best!! It happened to work out that they were my very last session, and I’m so glad! They’re so so awesome and sweet; it’s sessions like these that I will miss the most!
Thank you B family and all the clients I’ve been blessed to work with over the years! It’s been such a privilege 🙂 I will surely miss capturing your sweet faces! Blessings to you and yours!
